What is Mycelium ?
Mycelium is the root structure of mushrooms. What we commonly call a mushroom is only the fruit of a much larger underground mycelium network.
This network grows naturally through organic matter. When combined with agricultural or wood-based substrates, mycelium acts as a natural binding agent, growing around and between individual particles. In this way, it works like a living glue, connecting loose material into a solid form.
The result is a lightweight, strong, and fully biodegradable composite material. By growing mycelium in moulds, this material can be shaped and engineered into an almost infinite variety of mycelium objects, from functional elements to experimental design pieces.
Mycelium objects are grown, not manufactured — using low energy, renewable resources, and a process inspired directly by nature.
